Don’t quit in the battle

don't quitHow many of you feel like you are in a battle for your stuff?
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Whether it is your health, finances, education, career advancement, or finding greater meaning in life, you might feel like you are in the greatest battle ever. Welcome to the club, everyone has some kind of battle they are fighting. The good thing about the battle, is your ability to stand firm, even when your faith might be shaken. The greatest part about the battle, is that you are fighting and standing from a point of victory. Well you might say, what if I am loosing this battle, everything that’s happening indicates that I am loosing this battle? My advice to you is, as long as you haven’t lost it, keep standing, keep believing, and keep the faith. You see, this is exactly what the enemy wants, as long as we loose faith and give up hope he knows we’re in trouble. Jesus has already conquered ALL. Besides, the battle is the Lord’s and we are recipients of victory.

Faith or Fear: How do you see yourself, gaining defeat or enjoying sweet victory?

There is a weakness that eventually comes when you are fighting in the flesh. This is the time for us to acknowledge the power in the name of Jesus. The fearful energy we usurp expecting defeat BECAUSE, BECAUSE, BECAUSE, use your faith energy to believe that victory will manifest, because it is already a done deal. This is what PRAYER is all about, envisioning victory and targeting our faith filled prayers to bring the desired victory into manifestation.

Some how we have not completely tapped into the full benefits and life that’s in the name of Jesus. Let us approach him with full assurance that he is faithful to fight the battles and give us the victory on every front. So regardless, of the battle you are facing today, be fully dependent on the name of Jesus. No matter how fierce your battle becomes, keep your faith in Jesus high and keep expecting victory to show up in your life.

What are you expecting to happen? What is your prognosis? Are you expecting to die, then speak life, don’t give up the fight based on what is seen. What do you have faith in, the good or bad happening? Wherever we channel our faith that’s where it’s going to work. There are many victory stories out there, that we read and hear everyday. The characters never became victorious because they quit, but they kept fighting the good fight of faith. Why not let your victory story be one that others can praise God and be inspired?

How many times have we fallen prey to the enemy because we have become so harden to the voice and nudges of the Holy Spirit?

John 16:13
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

My prayer today is that God will mellow our hearts to be sensitive to His Holy Spirit’s leading. How much we need to hear that still soft voice, whispering peace and confidence to our hearts! Our hearts sometimes become harden to the move of God and we stop expecting him to work for us and through us. So why not allow the Holy Spirit to soften you once again? Let him remove the numbness you feel in the spirit and plow your heart to know him in ways you can only experience first hand. Holy Spirit will teach what you need to know, He desires to fill your life with his awesome love and encourage.

Faith like Jesus!

Jesus places significant emphasis throughout the gospels on faith, because it is the currency and language of heaven. We know God speaks and understands every language but the one that grabs his attention immediately is faith.

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm (Matt 8:26).

Jesus was very disappointed in the way his disciples handled the storm. Surely they had no prior warning since the storm arose suddenly. They probably would not have even ventured out into the sea, knowing what a storm is capable of doing. Jesus on the other hand, knew, nothing on earth is hidden from him. 

Faith in the midst of the storm

Jesus was sleeping in the midst of the dangerous waves that were sweeping over the boat. He was sleeping very deeply and comfortably when his disciples frantically wakes him up.  Why did he not wake up when the storms began and the waves were crashing against the boat? He was obviously not bordered or intimidated by the storm, he was not a bit phased by the crashing waves and strong winds. A storm of this kind would awake anyone, even Jesus. Could we deduce that there is nothing that could disrupt the peace of the Prince of peace himself? That’s true, but perhaps, an even more compelling fact is that Jesus wanted to see how his disciples would handle their first storm and how they would use their faith.

Use your authority and Exercise your faith

Jesus knew that his disciples had the same capabilities as he had. They had the same power residing in them to rebuke the winds and the waves just like he had, but they failed to exercise it. Jesus knew that man was created with power to have dominion over, and His job was to restore that dominion to a fallen human race who do not know who they really are, and what they are capable of accomplishing with God on their side. What this storm revealed was the fact that the disciples possessed the authority to speak and declare the word of God just like Jesus did but they lack faith to do it.

Faith to take action

A lack of faith will produce a lack of actions in the right direction. When we are asked to do something, we need to step out and do it, even when we may feel fear and even when we really don’t know what the outcome will be. Jesus addressed the lack of faith, because it hindered the disciples from exercising their God given potential. Faith really means going beyond ourselves and Jesus calls us to think outside the box. Faith is simply trusting in the supernatural ability of God and accessing, all that is already made available to us through the finished works of Jesus Christ.

Don’t be afraid, just believe!
Luke 8:49-50

While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

Perhaps you are in the same situation like the synagogue leader- the situation has reached the point of no turning back, or you feel like there is very little you can do to change things or make them work in your favor, but don’t count Jesus out just yet. Jesus said to Jairus “Don’t be afraid, just believe”. This is very important for us to understand and fully appreciate, FEAR TOLERATED IS FAITH CONTAMINATED. When he received the message that his daughter was dead, his worse fears were conformed, yet Jesus calm the leader’s fears and put him at peace. Jesus with a simple spoken word restore Jairus’ confidence and faith in him to believe that his daughter will be healed. Jairus, knew Jesus was able to heal, but did he know that Jesus was capable of accomplishing the ultimate- restoring life?

Where do we stand in our faith right now? Do we truly believe that Jesus has the power to do our ultimate and that he will do it for us? Absolutely! My encouragement to you this day is ONLY BELIEVE! Right in the middle trouble, challenge, sickness or anything beyond you, ONLY BELIEVE, THAT JESUS WILL do for you.

Use the authority of the Word

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4.

What should be our first response to anything that confronts us? We are humans so we logically go for the human perspective, however, I want to urge us to inquire or focus our minds first, on the WORD OF GOD. Let the words that flow out of our mouths be infused with truth from GOD’S WORD.The FACT is …..but TRUTH SAYS …. It is so easy to find the human solution, but do not ignore the authority of the WORD to effect change immediately and as well as gradually. Do not deny the power of the SPOKEN WORD.  When you pray about a situation, understand that there is power wrapped up in the authority of the WORD that you speak. Therefore, speak it boldly without reservation.

God is in big as well as the little details of your life, so use the WORD, it works every time. Eph. 3:20 (Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,…)

Take Jesus At His Word

TAKE JESUS AT HIS WORD

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4

As the Lord challenged me today, so do I challenge you to live by the WORD OF GOD. Make it your DAILY BREAD and you will be satisfied with the results it produces.

Pray with confidence in God’s WORD as his love letter and promise to you.
When he said by His stripes you were healed, He meant it, Healing is our bread, because we are the children of God.

What do you need healing from today? Ever sickness, disease, pain, hurt, wounds, are all paid for by the blood of Jesus.

Isaiah 53:4; Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
If Jesus took our pain and bore it in his body already, why do we think it’s ok to keep carrying and bearing it. Take this word of healing for you today and be healed in Jesus name. By his wounds you are healed from all sickness and all disease. What stands between you and your healing is your unwavering faith and refusal to quit until you see the manifestation of the promise.

Declare with me today, Jesus bore and carried all my sicknesses, all my diseases, all my pain, all my wounds- inner and external, all my hurts and by his stripes I am healed. The name of Jesus is greater than any disease or sickness you may face, cancer, Heart diseases, HIV, diabetes, depression, oppression etc, etc, etc. I am healed in Jesus name. Make this your daily declaration and live in the finished works of Jesus Christ.

The word has already been spoken out of the mouth of God, what will you do with it? Say I believe and receive all that Jesus has died to give me. Simply receive it.

It is Written

Read the WordIt is written

We have heard “It is written” quoted so many times during a sermon, referencing the gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke that we take it for granted. Understanding the power of the written WORD is absolutely necessary to build the foundation of faith in prayer. I realize that when we read about the temptation of Jesus, we overlook, this simple statement; “It is written”. This statement is life changing and can revolutionized our lives when we fully grasp its meaning. From this scripture we can learn how to harness the power of the written word to make a difference in our lives.

Matthew’s gospel records this statement in three instances. After Jesus had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. He was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness where he was tempted by the devil (Matt 4:1-2). The devil found Jesus at a very weak and vulnerable time, challenging everything that Jesus stands for; his divine sonship and his authority as God and man. In his moment of weakness, he demonstrated the power of the word to resist the wiles of the devil, instead of succumbing to the devil’s way of satisfying the desires of his basic human needs. Let’s not be too quick to say Jesus is God only. Yes he is God! But he was also fully man. Which means he felt the sting of hunger, just like any person would.

 We will focus our attention on the three temptations Jesus encountered

The first temptation

Matthew states 4:3 “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread”. The first temptation challenged Jesus’ divine sonship, authority and his appetite. Jesus’ response was, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’ (Matt 4:.4)”. This quote came from Deut. 8:3.  In this Jesus overcame the devil by resisting the urge to satisfy the base desires of man and provided a way of escape for such temptations. Jesus also knew who he was, so he need not prove himself or his power to the devil.

 The second temptation

Then the devil took him to the Holy City and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” The devil threw his little scripture in there too, challenging Jesus to prove His father’s word and love for him. Not only does this test Jesus’ security, but it also tests the authentic of his Father’s word. Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again the response that Jesus gave was found in the word (Deut. 6:16).

 The third temptation

Matthew 4:8-9 records “Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.  “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” This temptation is very presumptuous, the devil is suggesting that he owns the kingdoms of the world, when in actuality, God does. It also appeals to the very lust and desires of man to have power and control in the world, so the devil shows himself as the source of it all, and it will come when worship is given to him. Jesus would not have it. He could easily say I own all this. All that belongs to my father is mine. Jesus dismissed him and again quoted the scripture: “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” This is found in Deut. 6:13.

 Stay on courseIt is written

Jesus did not change course during the temptation, he was well-founded on the WORD and kept quoting the scriptures- “It is written”. Jesus did not rely on his intelligence and how well he can articulate man’s philosophy. He stick to the word and kept on quoting it.

 Regardless of the angle of each temptation Jesus faced, he answered it with the written WORD. The WORD of God is potent, full of life changing power. The WORD of God is forever settled in heaven, therefore, no one can change it. If Jesus chose to believe and speak it, so should we. If Jesus says it is written, we can also say it is written. Jesus knew the WORD is filled with power and it WORKS. If Jesus being God, the Living WORD itself and needed to depend on the word, how much more do we need to let the WORD govern our lives. The WORD didn’t work for Jesus just because he was the SON of GOD, it worked because he WORKED it, because he BELIEVE it and because he RELIED totally on it.

 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” I dare to say to you, the same way you desire food and drink for daily strength and sustenance, take the WORD in daily as your spiritual food for daily strength and power. Jesus shows that our strength does not lie in physical food, but in WORD that proceeds from the mouth of God. As you pray daily, speak the WORD and watch the WORD empower your prayer life and build your faith.

 Your life application

There isn’t anything that we are facing today, that is NOT written in the WORD OF GOD. Everything is already written in the WORD. Our victory is already written, all that we need is already written. Our healing is already written. All that we need Jesus to do for us, is already written. We are already overcomers, empowered to defeat the devil on all fronts. We are more than conquerors in all we undertake. It is written, YOU WIN, because JESUS WON. Why would Jesus turn the stone to bread if He is already the bread of Life sent from heaven? When you know who you are, and whose you are, you believe what the WORD says about you. Take some time to discover what is written.

The WORD works in prayer, when we work it.
